Let Patience Finish Its Work

I believe someone needs to read this...I was reminded of it again this morning.

"Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us," (Hebrews 12:1).

There has been a lot of emphasis on laying aside weights and sin, essentially how NOT to run the race. Little has been said about HOW TO run the race (the one that has been set before us; tailor made for us, we were SPECIALLY designed for that PARTICULAR race).

So how are we to run our fit-for-purpose race? WITH PATIENCE!

What is Patience?

According to Wikipedia, 'Patience (or forbearing) is the state of endurance under difficult circumstances, which can mean persevering in the face of delay or provocation without acting on annoyance/anger in a negative way; or exhibiting forbearance when under strain, especially when faced with longer-term difficulties.'

For patience to be exhibited, there must be difficult circumstances. Otherwise, there is no opportunity to show patience.

"My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing." (James 1:2-4).

Wikipedia continues on patience - 'Patience is the level of endurance one can take before negativity. It is also used to refer to the character trait of being steadfast.'

"Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof: and the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit." (Ecclesiastes 7:8).

Let patience have its full work in you.

Please feel free to add scriptures on patience as you find them...We don't hear much about patience elsewhere...

PS: If you are in an abusive relationship, please get to a place of safety and exercise patience from there.
