I read a speech supposedly given by a father to his
son-in-law and his family during his daughter's wedding. He kept asking the
son-in-law and his in-laws to keep his daughter happy. It seems like a great
message, right? Sorry, dad (and his daughter), God didn't leave anyone's
happiness in the hands of another. I searched the Scriptures for the word
'Happy' and found these beautiful scriptures...
"Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth:
therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty:" (Job 5:17).
"Happy art thou, O Israel: who is like unto thee, O
people saved by the LORD, the shield of thy help, and who is the sword of thy
excellency! and thine enemies shall be found liars unto thee; and thou shalt
tread upon their high places." (Deuteronomy 33:29).
"Blessed is every one that feareth the LORD; that
walketh in his ways. For thou shalt eat the labour of thine hands: happy shalt
thou be, and it shall be well with thee. Thy wife shall be as a fruitful vine
by the sides of thine house: thy children like olive plants round about thy
table." (Psalm 128:1-3).
"Happy is that people, that is in such a case: yea, happy
is that people, whose God is the LORD." (Psalm 144:15).
"Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help,
whose hope is in the LORD his God:" (Psalm 146:5).
"Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that
getteth understanding. She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her:
and happy is every one that retaineth her." (Proverbs 3:13, 18).
"He that despiseth his neighbour sinneth: but he that
hath mercy on the poor, happy is he." (Proverbs 14:21).
"He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good: and
whoso trusteth in the LORD, happy is he." (Proverbs 16:20).
"Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he
that keepeth the law, happy is he." (Proverbs 29:18).
"If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do
them." (John 13:17).Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have
heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord
is very pitiful, and of tender mercy." (James 5:11).
"But and if ye suffer for righteousness’ sake, happy
are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled;" (1 Peter
3:14).
"If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are
ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is
evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified." (1 Peter 4:14).
Sorry, Dad, as important as a husband's love and
acceptance/love by in-laws are, God did not leave the responsibility for a
woman's happiness to anyone. The key to your happiness has been given to US by
God. Please erase the notion that you NEED another human to be happy.
