Happy New Month.
Sometime last week (month), as I was preparing to go to
work, I asked the Holy Spirit to help me meet up with those that I usually go
with to work. Yeah, I'm one of those that 'disturb' Him for
E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G! He asked me to modify my prayer to 'Let Your will be done,
Lord'. I did so grudgingly.
As we got close to my pick-up point, we heard someone knock
on the tricycle asking us to please help her get to where she was going. We
grudgingly stopped to pick her up. She turned out to be someone I knew that was
also going where I was going. We eventually missed our ride that morning,
basically because we stopped to pick her up. Then her story kept getting
'worse'. Turns out she forgot her shoes at home and the slippers she had on had
cut. Then her phone battery was flat.
I realised at that point that I had to make a choice - wait
to help her out (and get to the office late) OR wish her well and continue with
my journey! I chose Option 2; no one has time to render unsolicited
help...Sounds mean, right? Lol. I didn't choose Option 2; I grudgingly chose
Option 1 but still thought of the consequences.
This young lady kept trying to take charge again. After we
bought the bus tickets (another drama there) and were seated in the bus that
was ready to go, she asked me to lend her my phone so she could call someone to
pick her up. I tried to tell her how unreasonable that plan was but she
insisted. I gave her my phone and she slotted in her SIM card. She called the
guy several times and he didn't pick up. My phone is a cheap phone so any
shaking results in return to default setting...
We got to the bus' final destination and I had to help her
buy a pair of slippers. She said she had some flats in the office so it was
just a matter of getting to the office. Then I had to hold back laughter as she
lamented how she wouldn't get to put on 'heels' that day (I put on flats almost
every day so that was hilarious to me). I'm already feeling a headache as I
recount the story. Trust me, there is a moral and a justification. She put up
this attitude till we got to the office. I guess at some point, it occurred to
her that I was actually helping her, lol, and she said a flippant 'thank you'.
At some point in our journey, she 'helped' me cross the road and said 'See, me
too, I've helped you'. We were an hour late eventually.
As I reviewed the incident, I realised that I have been as
funny as she was on more than one occasion; so fixated on what's not going
right in my life that I do not see the 'angels', who give up so much to hold my
hand through the challenge. I choose to repent today and celebrate my angels
that have in one way or the other stood with me as I passed through (and I'm
still passing through) the storm. Thank you for giving as unto the Lord, I am a
life that's been touched by God's angels (you) and has been changed.
If, like me, you've been so focused on that challenge that
you've missed the ministry of the 'angels' God has used to help you through the
storm, I welcome you to appreciate some of them in the comments below.
Have a blessed and productive day.
